Dr Burdge is Reader in Human Nutrition at the University of Southampton (UK). His academic career has focused on research and educational activities in the regulation of nutrient metabolism. He has published over 90 original articles, reviews and book chapters. He has been a British Heart Foundation Research Fellow. His current research programme is directed towards understanding how variation in the epigenetic regulation of genes determines differential risk of non-communicable diseases, such as cardio-metabolic disease and cancer, and how this is modified by nutrition throughout the life course.
