Tobias Pischon studied Medicine at the Freie Universität Berlin, and Public Health at the Technische Universität Berlin (Germany). He earned is Doctoral Degree in Medicine in 1999 from the Freie Universität Berlin and his Habilitation in Epidemiology and Social Medicine in 2007 from the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Past appointments include Medical Residencies at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Humboldt Universität Berlin, positions as Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Research Associate at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA, and Scientist at the German Institute of Human Nutrition. From 2008-2010 he was Head of the Biomarker Research Group within the Department of Epidemiology of the German Institute of Human Nutrition. Since 2010 he is Full Professor for Molecular Epidemiology at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Head of the Molecular Epidemiology Group at the Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) Berlin-Buch. Dr. Pischon’s research focuses on the impact of metabolic and genetics factors, diet and lifestyle on the risk of chronic diseases, particularly cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. He holds the Certificate “Epidemiology” from the German Society for Epidemiology and the Certificate “Clinical Nutrition” from the Medical Associations of Berlin and Brandenburg. He was Stipend of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and received several awards from scientific societies. His research results have been published in major international journals.
