Brazilian and Latin American versions of Policy Report Executive Summaries
The Second Expert Report is the most authoritative and comprehensive report ever published on diet and cancer. It lays out personal recommendations for people as well as goals for the population as a whole. However, setting these targets is just one step. Equally important is understanding how to achieve them successfully.
A companion publication to the Second Expert Report addresses why people practice particular eating and physical eating habits over a lifetime. It looks at the success of studies that have been designed to change those behaviours. The Policy Report published in February 2009, addresses why people practice particular eating and physical eating habits over a lifetime. It provides advice and guidance on what can be done to influence and change the lifestyle choices that people make, as they relate to their risk of cancer.
The Policy Report makes 48 recommendations addressed to actors - those people who make decision or policy in relevant areas, at all levels from United Nations agencies to families.
In order to increase the potential impact of the Policy Report several country and region specific Policy Report Executive Summaries are being produced. The summaries are being produced in appropriate languages and with leading partners and include key information from the Policy Report. All summaries include example of good practice – policies and actions that have been successfully implemented – as identified by local collaborators in consultation with specialist advisors. The recommendations are put in the context for that particular country or region, with particularly important and relevant recommendations highlighted.
The following versions have been launched to date:
A Brazilian Policy Report Executive Summary, in Portuguese, has been published in collaboration with the Brazilian National Cancer Institute (INCA).
A Latin American Policy Report Executive Summary, in Spanish, has been published in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
