If you are interested in becoming a Fundraising Ambassador, you will first be asked to complete an initial registration form. Once we’ve received the form, we’ll then give you a call to discuss the role and commitment, and go through the agreement form.

New ambassadors will receive a series of emails: First email This will include more information about the charity and what we do; the work of the different departments at WCRF; plus an outline of what to expect in the journey ahead – for example, expectations for being an ambassadors. Second email This will be from our CEO, welcoming you World Cancer Research Fund and thanking you for supporting us. Third email Our science team will then explain how the research we fund is conducted and the types of research so you can understand how your support directly helps cancer prevention.

3. Insight into the charity

You will get a full picture of how we’re funded and more details on who we are, our values and our mission. Explaining public donations, legacies, community fundraising and grants in detail. You will also get an understanding of our ethical standards and fundraising regulations.

Your welcome pack will include a WCRF T-shirt, an information leaflet and a handwritten note to say thank you for joining us. You will also get more information about previous events and how our other Fundraising Ambassadors have contributed to making them truly memorable.

5. Onboarding and education

You will receive: Brand Assets: Provide guidelines, posting help, and examples of successful content. Training/Resources: Offer tips on sharing experiences, storytelling, and how we use our platforms. Community Building: Introduce them to other ambassadors or key contacts. Via pre-reordered videos of previous ambassadors telling them about their journey.

6. Engagement and empowerment

Encourage Sharing: Prompt ambassadors to share genuine experiences and stories. Why have you chosen to join WCRF as an ambassador, your motivations and more. Creative Freedom: Balance brand narrative with their unique voice, allowing ambassadors to freely share ideas and express why they want to help. Feedback Loop: Show you value their input and can that we receive feedback. Is here anything we haven’t mentioned in the programme that they would like to add? Another way of supporting us?

What do our Fundraising Ambassadors do?

As a Fundraising Ambassador at the World Cancer Research Fund, you’ll support our mission in a variety of meaningful ways. You can get involved in the areas that suit your interests, skills, and availability.

Support events and community activities

Help out at events such as at cheer points, and campaigns by welcoming attendees, sharing information, and creating a positive, supportive atmosphere.

Share health information within the community

Distribute posters, leaflets, and booklets in your community to help spread clear, trusted cancer prevention and health information.

Deliver talks and presentations

Speak to schools, churches, community groups, and local organisations about our work and the importance of cancer prevention and what we do at WCRF.

Help in our London office

Support behind-the-scenes tasks such as preparing mailings (including filling envelopes with Christmas cards), organising materials, packing resources, and assisting with basic administrative work.

Share your story

Choose to share your personal experience of preventing cancer, supporting someone affected, or living with a cancer diagnosis through blogs, social media, events, or campaigns.

Act as a digital fundraising ambassador

Engage with and share our social media content, help amplify campaigns online, and support e-campaigning activity.

Advocate for change

Take part in political advocacy and campaigning by meeting with local councillors, politicians, or Members of Parliament to support national and local policy change.

Support lobbying activities

Write to politicians, sign and collect signatures for petitions, and take part in organised lobbying efforts that help influence decision-makers.

As a member of the World Cancer Research Fund Ambassador Programme, ambassadors are expected to commit to supporting a minimum of one event per year. In addition, ambassadors are encouraged to actively promote the programme by referring suitable individuals who may wish to join.
